Nobody in India publishes a price
Of ten biography writers and services checked in August 2026, two published a fee and eight did not. None of the Indian ones did. The market runs on “book a consultation” and buyers have no way to calibrate.
The diaspora’s first year is unwritten
Families document the success and skip the arrival. In one generation the arrival is gone, because the only people who were there stop being available to ask.
Ghostwriting is not what people assume
The buyer is rarely a celebrity. It is a family with a grandfather in his eighties and a date on the calendar. The constraint is not writing ability. It is proximity.
What families ask to leave out
Every commission has a sensitive zone: the estrangement, the first marriage, the case still open. How a biographer handles it is a craft question and it is the most interesting part of the job.

Can you name your clients?
Mostly no, and that is the job. Ghostwriting runs on NDAs signed before any material changes hands. What can be said is the shape of the work: authorised biographies and family histories for Indian founders, industrialists and diaspora families.
